Toyota Sienna is one of the best-sold minivans in the US market and that feat comes only with high reliability that this vehicle showed in the past. Third generation Sienna will continue to feature throughout 2015 as a carried over model, but might just get a new addition to the family, fuel-saving hybrid with a V6 engine. The engine of the new 2015 Toyota Sienna hybrid will produce 280 horsepower with estimated fuel consumption of 30 mpg.
2015 Toyota SIenna hybrid redesign
Exterior should look the same as with other Sienna siblings in the lineup, but will have its distinctive marks which hybrids usually have. Grille should get more plain design in order for hybrid Sienna to look simpler. Rear end will have a hybrid badge, but other than that, will keep the roofline spoiler and big sharp tail-lights.
Interior will come with enough room for eight people. Second row of seats cannot be folded down and has to be removed instead. This might make a few problems, especially because it leaves a rack on the floor on which it is mounted and floor is never actually flat. Dashboard comes in two-tone plastics and is simplified to the level that Sienna doesn’t come with LCD or touch screen display, even though they are available as optional upgrades. Shifter is also mounted on it which leaves plenty of room for possessions in the center stack. Gauges will be quite different than those on the regular models as hybrids have other things to worry about than shift revs. Safety features include airbag system in all three rows of seats, pre-collision protection system, dynamic cruise control, optional rearview camera with front and rear parking sensors, etc.
Powertrain of the new Toyota Sienna hybrid
It is still not confirmed, but as it is stated above, Toyota might decide to incorporate a new powertrain option to the Sienna lineup. If that happens, it should have a 3.5L V6 engine that can also be found in Highlander hybrid and has 280 hybrid system net horsepower. Drivetrain will be electronic on-demand AWD system with intelligence (AWD-i), transmission ECVT, and battery will probably be Ni-Mh in order to reduce the cost. Fuel economy ratings will be better than they are in the rest of the lineup and will stand at around 30 mpg estimated.
2015 Toyota Sienna hybrid price
Price should be considerably higher than those of the rest of the lineup and hybrid Sienna will cost around $48,000. 2015 Toyota Sienna hybrid is still doubtful, but there is some chance that it will feature. If it does, Sienna hybrid will offer much better fuel efficiency with all the passenger and cargo space it already has. This should make it a great choice for large families and their trips.
